The holidays are here; how is your office celebrating? Not all companies are into holiday parties, but the least you can do is decorate for the occasion! If you will be jazzing up your office this season with holiday décor, there are always a few safety precautions to take into consideration. As your trusty insurance agency, we have a few holiday safety tips to offer. We also encourage your company to look into Massachusetts commercial insurance; you never know when you will need the backup coverage!

Here are a few ways to safely decorate your office:

#1: Put up indoor and outdoor lights. Looking to add some glitz to your place? Decorative lights are a great way to do so, inside and out. However, make sure you buy lights that have the seal of approval on them, an ETL or UL label. Also, check for any cracks, broken bulbs or wiring issues. An electrical issue is the last thing you need.

#2: Embrace ornaments. Delicate ornaments are not only for trees! Place ornaments in a glass vase to create a nice decorative piece for the front desk.

#3: Decorate a Christmas tree. Is your office celebrating Christmas? Spend an hour or so decorating a tree! Be careful though: it is crucial to water a real tree and keep it away from any heating sources. Bonus points if you host Secret Santa in the office; place the gifts under the tree!

#4: Blow out the candles before leaving. Is your office celebrating Hanukkah? Light a menorah in the office; just remember to blow out the candles before leaving the office.

Getting your office in the holiday spirit is a great way to lighten up the mood! Many of your employees may start to get antsy around this hectic time of year but a nice atmosphere is sure brighten their day…even the Scrooges of the office!

While decorations look beautiful, they can also be dangerous if you are not careful. With the proper commercial insurance, Massachusetts business owners will not have to worry about unexpected costs due to an accident, damage or even injury.
