Seeing your child on the field for his first big soccer game can cause tons of different emotions to run through you.  Of course you are excited to see him out there, but you are also worried about him getting hurt.  After the game you will feel both elation and relief for those same reasons.  It’s important to make sure your kids know how to play a sport safely and how to avoid injury when they can.

Bringing Dogs to the Workplace

Some offices have decided to allow employees to bring their dogs to work with them occasionally.  It has been proven to increase productivity and bring a cheerful disposition to everyone at the workplace.  Have you thought about allowing it at your business?  If you are, you should talk with your insurance agent to find out what type of liability you will have if something were to happen to the dog or to anyone else involved.

Massachusetts Bicycle Helmet Law

Are you aware of the laws regarding bicycle helmets in Massachusetts? Massachusetts bicycle laws require all children under the age of 12 to wear a helmet when riding a bike.  Do your children abide by that law?  Do you enforce it?  If the answer is no to those questions, it might be a good time to start changing your habits.

Football season has begun and we’re starting to see a lot of orange, brown and red decorations in the stores.  It must be fall.  Perfect time to get your house in order before winter shows up.  The weather is great to get your yard picked up and do those chores you’ve been putting off all summer.

With the winter months just around the corner, it’s a great time to give your car the once-over to get it ready for all the bad weather winter brings us.  OK, so it’s still technically summer, but fall is only a week away.  The weather will start getting colder and those warm summer rains will turn into freezing cold sleet storms before you know it.   Having your car checked out now will save you a lot of annoyance in the winter.

Lately Mother Nature has been packing a punch with the weather she’s been throwing at us.  Between the rare derecho storm that ravaged Atlantic County, NJ earlier this summer and Hurricane Isaac that drowned several towns in the South last week, that’s enough to want to run for the hills.  Last year we all experienced the wrath of Hurricane Irene that damaged plenty of the Northeast as well.  It’s scary stuff.

If you are like most of us, you’ve got a lot of stress in your life.  Sometimes it helps you get through situations quickly and other times it just makes you feel fatigued and tired.  Either way, too much stress can be detrimental to your health.  You will want to keep your stress level in check if you want your body to thrive the way it’s supposed to.  There are a few things you can do to relieve stress in your life.  Of course, avoiding the things that cause you stress would be great, but it’s not possible all the time.  Sometimes you can only remove yourself for a short period of time to regroup.  When you have a few minutes to break free, try some of these tips to relax your stressed out brain.

Non-renewals

Are you aware of Massachusetts’ laws regarding non-renewal of your commercial insurance policy?  By law, your insurance carrier needs to give you 10 days notice before your policy expires if they plan on non-renewing it for another term.  They can not wait any longer or they will have to renew your policy regardless of their previous decision to non-renew.

When you bought your business’s refrigeration unit or air conditioner, did you buy the extended warranty that goes along with it?  If you did, that’s great.  If something goes wrong with your unit, you will want to know it can be fixed without paying astronomical prices for the repair.  But what happens if your broken refrigeration unit or your busted air conditioner causes other damage to your shop?  What if your entire inventory that was in the fridge was lost because the cooling portion stopped working?  Do you have any recourse with the warranty?
